Horu Horu no Mi is an article written by Silver-Haired Seireitou.

The Horu Horu no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants the user the ability to create and control special hormones that can affect anyone they strike by however the user desires, making the user a Hormone Controlling Human (ホルモン自在人間, Horumon Jizai Ningen). Horu is short for "horumon" (ホルモン), meaning hormone. In the Viz Manga and FUNimation subs, it is called the Horm-Horm Fruit. It was eaten by Turner Dyan.

History

Prior to being eaten by Dyan, it was previously utilized by the infamous revolutionary, Emporio Ivankov. After his eventual death, the devil fruit respawned.

Overview

The major strength of the fruit is to create and manipulate special hormones. These hormones can manipulate various aspects of a person such as gender, body temperature, pigmentation, growth, and even emotional state. The hormones can also be used to greatly increase a person's battle capabilities through healing and energizing. By turning four of their fingers into syringes and stabbing a person, the user is able to inject these hormones and change the person on a genetic level to whatever the user desires. This process can also be used by the user on themselves to aid them. The fruit is unable to penetrate Devil Fruit users who can harden their bodies.

Other than that, the fruit seems to have no other weaknesses outside the standard Devil Fruit weakness.

It would appear that it is also possible for the user to utilize the hormones for healing purposes, including re-energizing the body after it has been severely injured. Dyan can perform other miracles on people besides himself such as extreme healing, using them to allow for a body to adjust from a fatal-condition to having a chance of survival. However, while he can make the adjustment within the body to heal from these conditions, the miracle is also dependent on the person hit by the altering hormones, whereas only those with a strong enough will can survive and use their survival instincts via the hormones to their advantage. Depending on what the conditions the patient is in, as well as the hormones used, the receiver may suffer a shortening of lifespan in exchange for a "cure".

Dyan is known to sometimes change his commanding officer and fellow Vice-Admiral, Kurama and Sparrow Ryan respectively, into women; often times done so in a mocking way to mess with them. However, it would appear that some use was found in this transformation by being used as undercover disguises. Once the need for the forms is gone, Dyan reverts both men back to their original gender.

Behind the Scenes

  • Ironically, Dyan's surname of "Turner" seems to have some association with this fruit's power, given that the Horu Horu no Mi allows him to genderbend anyone and "turn" them.
