Sinbad (シンバッド Shinbaddo) is a young sailor turned pirate. Originally from East Blue, he worked as a sailor since he was a child. He's known as Seven Seas because of the fact that he has traveled most of the seas in the world. After a falling out that he had with the crew of the last vessel he was working on, he stole the ship and ended up becoming a pirate together with a man he had just met named Roberts. He is now the First Mate to the Dread Pirates.
Sinbad is a young man with shaggy blue hair, deep blue eyes and sharp facial features. He is thin, but muscular, and fairly tall. He wears jeans with large, light brown boots and a white and blue shirt that's reminiscent of Marine colours. Over top he wears a brown jacket that is lined with the fur of fur seals, and a black scarf around his neck that has a single golden anchor on it.
That being his normal appearance, as well as how he dressed as a sailor. When he is appearing as a pirate and as a crew mate of the Dread Pirates, he wears white demon horns and a white robe with a popped collar and baggy sleeves, tied with a black sash. Underneath, he wears a black skintight shirt, and has baggy white pants that match his robe, socks that are pulled over his pant cuffs and a pair of sandals. Around his waist, he has some red samurai armour on, and a giant red magatama necklace around his neck. He dresses like this as a sort of costume, though it has surprisingly worked quite well as a disguise.
Sinbad uses a unique shaped stave in battle named Punisher. Made of steel, it has a long, thin shaft, at the bottom of which are three long, white streamers attached to it. At the top of the shaft are six large, heavy, cylindrical stones. He personally made Punisher, and has had this stave since he was a sailor, using it to fight off attacking pirates. Whenever any of the stones breaks, he repairs it by adding a new one. Lately, he hasn't needed to replace any stones, as his Haki has enforced them.
Powers & AbilitiesEdit
Being the First Mate of the Dread Pirates, Sinbad is one of the four officers who stand directly beneath the Captain. Despite the authority he holds over the rest of the crew, he chooses not to wield it ordinarily. The full effect of his authority, and the only time he will usually use it, is when Roberts is not around. This is because Sinbad's job is to speak with the Captains voice whenever he is incapable of doing so himself. Because of this, Sinbad will gain whatever level of authority that Roberts would have in any given situation that he needs to speak with the Captains voice.
Even though Sinbad is one of the four officers, he was also a Sailor for a large portion of his life. Thus, he has learned all the skills required to sail the seas. These skills include knot tying, bringing up and taking down the sail, navigation and much more. As a result, he will usually handle these jobs, as he is more than skilled enough to do so, and he usually wouldn't be doing anything otherwise. He does get help from the other members when they aren't too busy with their actual jobs though. Sinbad even acted as the ships navigator until the position of Ship Master was filled by Gregario.
Sinbad is one of the physically strongest members in the crew, being one of only four who are stronger than Kele, a half fishman. This measure of strength is from everybody's base form, without gaining any strength from Devil Fruits. In this, Sinbad lands in the fourth spot in terms of physical strength.
Sinbad primarily fights by attacking with his stave, Punisher. Swinging it around, Sinbad gains incredible force through momentum before striking.
Haki is a mysterious energy that is found within all living creatures in the world. Through proper training, anyone is capable of unleashing this energy, while some people have been known to be born with the ability to use it in some form. This energy comes from an individual’s strength of will. There are two forms of Haki that are available to everyone, while a third form can only be used by a limited number of people. These people are considered to be “kings”, and prove to be powerful leaders who tend to find success in their lives. Despite being the First Mate, Sinbad is only the fourth strongest member, and drops down to fifth when considering strength gained through Devil Fruits. His saving grace though is that his Haki is the second strongest in the crew. Like much of the crew, Sinbad was taught the basics of Haki by Roberts. Roberts decided that in order to properly prepare for the New World, his crew would need to learn how to harness their willpowers before actually reaching it. However, some were more prepared to learn than others, resulting in the Officers being taught before the rest of the crew. Sinbad has shown skill with the two main forms of Haki.
Busoshoku Haki is both an offensive and defensive form of Haki that allows a user to coat their body, or objects in contact with them, with invisible armour that will also magnify the damage done by any attack. This armour allows for someone to grab hold of any Devil Fruit user’s true form. This makes it possible for certain intangible or other such fruit users to be damaged through sheer force of will. Sinbad has shown an affinity towards this form of Haki, being more skilled in its usage.
- Busoshoku: Koka: An advanced Busoshoku Haki technique; by heavily concentrating Haki on certain body parts or objects, one can turn said area black with Haki and harden it. Sinbad has managed to attain this ability, proving his prowess with the Busoshoku Haki. While he is incapable of completely covering his body with this technique, it is still quite powerful. When using the black Haki, Sinbad will tend to cover his right arm with it, extending it down his right side as well as part of his face. This is the most he can cover with Koka at once, and so he'll cover the rest of his body with the invisible armour. If he is using Punisher, he will move some of the black coverage from his body to his weapon. This leaves only his arm and Punisher covered. The boundaries of his coverage are shown to be rather spiky.
Kenbunshoku Haki is a supportive form of Haki that allows users to feel the presence of a living creature’s aura. Through empathy, one is able to know all sorts of information about any and all things within their range. Mainly, it gets used to tell what someone is doing, and what they will do, without needing to see them, however it also has many other uses. It can be used to determine the strength of each individual within the range of the users Haki, or even to hear people’s inner thoughts. It becomes very difficult to battle someone who has a strong Kenbunshoku Haki, as they will know everything you will do before you even do it. If a user loses focus for some reason or another though, they will lose control of their Haki, providing an excellent opening to attack. Sinbad is capable of using his Kenbunshoku Haki to extend fairly far, though the information he can glean from it is quite small at the edge of his range. He also has to consciously make the effort to use it, meaning that he can be taken by surprise if he doesn't feel the need to use it, showing his lack of mastery over it. However, while he is using it, he has a sturdy grasp over it, and will not easily lose focus.
- Sinbad wears horns as a pirate because, as a child, he thought of pirates as evil and slightly demonic. So when he drew a picture with a pirate in it, they would have devil horns on their head.
- Sinbad's favourite drink is grog.
