Thackeray D. Quint is a Pirate and the current Shipwright of the Dewdrop Pirates. Originally hailing from Sabaody Archipelago, Quint and his family moved away following a particularly terrible run-in with the World Noble; Saint Repulsanct. When a younger Quint bravely stood up against the nobleman and attempted to hide a man that the World Noble fancied, he was caught, and the only reason he survived that encounter was due to Repulsanct's laughably poor aim.
Yet the event did not come without cost, for although the bullet missed his brain, it grazed his eye and destroyed it utterly in the process.
