Yggdrasil is an article written by EazzyMacc.

The Yggdrasil Kingdom (せいかいじゅ Seikaiju?)[1] is a "world-tree" kingdom in the New World. The Kingdom is considered multi-seasonal due to the different portions of the Kingdom always being in a single season.[1]

The Kingdom was formerly reigned by the Ferrothorn Family until their demise at the hands of the Ivaldi Pirates. Since then the captain of the Ivaldi pirates, Ilphen Lazarus has made the island his base in the New World. Jord currently resides as the island's guardian utilizing her devil fruit powers to assimilate with the Yggdrasil tree itself.

General Information[]

Yggdrasil, the immense tree that rests in the center of the kingdom, has grown over hundreds if not thousands of years. Its roots spread throughout the ground and even through parts of the nearby oceans. Its branches reach out over hundreds of miles of land and sea. Whether by happenchance or by a greater design Yggdrasil's roots and branches encompass dozens of smaller islands that make up the kingdom's main land mass.

Trough years of Arborsculpture the massive roots of the World Tree have been guided to create connections between the individual islands. Nearly all roads connecting the realms are the still living roots or branches of Yggdrasil.

Branches[]

Under the rule of Ilphen Lazarus the nine main branches of Yggdrasil have each been assigned a different purpose. Each branch is designed to produce something that keeps the kingdom running in one way or another.

  • Asgard: The fortress citadel at the center of Yggdrasil itself. This is where the island's rulers reside.
  • Midgard: Known as the People's Realm, this is where the majority of citizens' homes are located. It is well known for its many restaurants, bars, inns and general entertainment. Whether it be for kids or adults, there is most likely something fun for everyone in Midgard.
  • Niflheim: This icy realm is known for its treacherous weather as well for its prosperous mines. Deep within the ice and stone miners pull all manor of valuable gems and precious metals.
  • Muspelheim: By far the hottest section of the island, this realm houses hundreds of forges. The combined heat generated by the natural weather and the numerous forges makes it a less than ideal location to visit for those unaccustomed to the heat.
  • Jotunheim: Known as the Giant's Realm, this is where men and women train to become strong warriors. Military schools founded by different views on combat offer a place for every individual to find a style of combat that works for them. Berserkir is taught here alongside numerous other fighting styles. There are often tournaments and contests held for warriors of all experience levels.
  • Vanaheim: The branch is reserved for religious groups to practice in safety. Under Berski rule many religions are allowed to be practiced alongside their traditional Berserkir. Any religion can be practiced here as long as it does not directly harm those on the island.
  • Alfheim: By far the most beautiful and tourist friendly realm of Yggdrisal, Alfheim is home to hundreds of artisans of all walks of life. Meticulously kept gardens dot the landscape and offer inspiration to the artists, poets and musicians that come from all over the world. Art in all forms is created and sold here.
  • Svartalfheim: While Muspelheim focuses on refining what the miners pull from the earth, the smiths of Svartalfheim turn metal to works of wonder. The smiths that call this realm home are able to craft nearly anything one could ask for. From weapons, to ships, to pots and art, the craftsmanship of these tradesmen is top tier.
  • Helheim: This realm covered in a dense forest is often called the Dead Realm. It serves two main purposes, the first of which is its massive forests offer wood for the other branches to use. Its second purpose is to be the resting place of the dead. Massive graveyards can be found lost in the trees. Its a common belief that the souls of those that are buried here gladly give their bodies to nourish the forests. This is but one example of how the citizens believe they are all meant to give what they can to help each other.
